Field pathogenomics: A pilot project to study pathogen diversity directly from field samples and determine their adaptation to host varieties

  • Term:  1 year, starting in 2019

  • Status: Complete (CLICK HERE for the performance story)

  • Funding Amount: $60,000

  • Lead Researcher(s): Dr. Randy Kutcher (University of Saskatchewan)

  • Funding Partners: N/A

Project Description

The results from this pilot project will complement previously funded projects on stripe rust race/lineage characterization using the traditional approach. This technique will provide insight into genotypic information on both the host and the pathogen for every field from which the pathogen is isolated.  This will help to study host-specificity of the pathogen on the wheat cultivars grown in Canada.
