Sask Wheat scholarship recipients recognized

Recipients of the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (Sask Wheat) Essay Award for undergraduate students and the Sask Wheat Post-graduate Award were recognized at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources Bean Feed event on November 20, 2020.

Sask Wheat provides $10,000 annually to undergraduate students enrolled in any College of Agriculture and Bioresources undergraduate degree program specializing in an area of study that could have an impact on the wheat industry. In 2019, the following students received a $2,500 essay award:

  • Kaitlin Burns, 4th year, Agricultural Biology major

  • Declan Cameron, 3rd year, Agronomy major

  • Joshua McBride, 3rd year, Crop Science major

  • James Macaskill, 4th year, Agricultural Economics major

In addition, graduate students Rasanwada A.W. Rajakaruna Rathnayaka Mudiyanselag and Lindsay Wileniec received the Sask Wheat Post-graduate Award. Sask Wheat provides $100,000 annually to the College of Agriculture and Bioresources to attract and retain graduate students who plan to conduct research with social or scientific relevance to a sustainable and profitable western Canadian wheat sector.

Sask Wheat has provided $550,000 to the College of Agriculture and Bioresources for graduate and undergraduate awards since the scholarships were established in 2015.
