Sask Wheat works on several policy issues to advance the interests of Saskatchewan wheat producers, both individually and together with several important industry partners both provincially and at the national level.
We strive to ensure a strong and unified voice on issues and concerns that affect Saskatchewan producers and the Canadian agriculture sector.
Some of our key industry partners include:
Sask Crops is a collective of organizations that support and advocate for Saskatchewan farmers, consisting of the Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, SaskFlax, SaskOats, SaskCanola, SaskBarley, and Sask Wheat.
We work together to ensure that Saskatchewan remains a competitive player in global markets and that Saskatchewan’s farms remain profitable. Collectively we represent approximately 24,000 farmers in the province, ensuring that they have their voices heard and interests cared for.

The Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) is a national organization comprised of major grain, pulse and oilseed commodity groups from across the country. Representing over 65,000 farmers, GGC members are trade-oriented, sustainable and innovative. As the national voice for Canadian grain farmers, the GGC advocates for the federal government to take decisions supporting grain growers across Canada.

The Canadian Grains Council (CGC) is the national umbrella organization representing the grain, oilseed, pulse and special crop industries.
The CGC’s mission is to lead, facilitate and support policy development and implementation on cross-commodity issues and opportunities. CGC membership includes representatives from all segments of the grain value chain (producers, grain handlers/exporters, input suppliers, and processors) and all the major commodity organizations. The CGC strives to build consensus and speak as one voice on issues that matter to the Canadian agriculture sector.

The Ag Transport Coalition (ATC) represents a coalition of agriculture associations including Sask Wheat, Alberta Grains, Canadian Canola Growers Association, Canadian Oilseed Processors Association, Inland Terminal Association of Canada, Manitoba Pulse & Soybean Growers, Pulse Canada and the Western Grain Elevator Association.
The ATC produces daily and weekly reports of several key grain rail transportation metrics, including car order fulfilment performance for each major Canadian railway. Increased transparency in rail performance is one of the few ways to hold others in the supply chain accountable, draw wider attention to service issues and understand when problems are developing that may influence their ability to deliver grain and the prices they receive for their products.
Sask Wheat also participates in the Crop Logistics Working Group (CLWG) and Transport Canada’s Commodity Supply Chain Table (CSCT). These forums provide opportunities for the government and industry to engage in constructive dialogue on transportation challenges and to work towards strategic solutions.
