In 2015, Sask Wheat began offering scholarships to agriculture students at the University of Saskatchewan, giving them the opportunity to pursue agricultural research that benefits the entire Saskatchewan wheat industry.

Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission Essay Award

Investing in education is an investment into our future. This award recognizes continuing students enrolled in any College of Agriculture and Bioresources undergraduate degree program that are specializing in an area of study that could have an impact on the wheat industry.

Eligibility

Open to continuing students at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources majoring in either Crop Science, Soil Science, Agronomy or Agribusiness as well as students majoring in Agricultural Biology with minors in Field Crop Production, Agribusiness, and Soil Science.

Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission Undergraduate Wheat Producers Scholarships

These awards recognize the academic achievement of continuing undergraduate students in any program offered in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources whose immediate family are check-off paying wheat growers in the province of Saskatchewan.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to continuing undergraduate students in any program offered at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. To be eligible, applicants must submit a statement attesting that a parent is a registered producer with the Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission.

Graduate Scholarships

Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission Graduate Scholarship

We offer continuing support to graduate students at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources who plan to conduct research with social or scientific relevance to making the western Canadian wheat sector sustainable and profitable for the future.

$150,000 per year

Eligibility

Incoming and continuing graduate students who will be registered in a thesis-based program in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources for the 2024/25 academic year. Students who, as of September 1, 2024, have completed no more than 20 months (master's) or 44 months (doctoral) in their graduate program.

MSc student awards are $20,000 per year, renewable for one additional year. PhD student awards are $30,000 per year, renewable for up to two additional years.
